Which has been the most difficult plant to care for and why?

Calatheas and Begonias are plants that I still don’t know how to deal with, despite following various tips on how to care for them, in my particular experience I have not been able to make them survive. I’m still in the process, but I’m not going to give up because they are plants that I really like.

What has been the easiest plant to care for and why?

The dracaena (Sansevieria) this plant is very “grateful”. It does not require a large amount of light, so it can also grow indoors without any further complications, and the best part of all is that its care is not very complicated, for example, if you are very concerned about watering, this plant in particular that does not require constant watering, because it stores water in the tissues of its leaves.

How did @boysandgirlswithplants start? How has it changed over time?

On my personal Instagram, I constantly received unfavorable comments. People found it strange to see my photos with plants. This led me to question myself and think if I was really doing something wrong, I personally did not feel that I was doing something from the other world, on the contrary I was doing something that I really like, which was posting photos with my plants. All this led me to think, are there other people with the same love for plants? I decided to create @boysandgirlswithplants and my big surprise was to meet a lot of people who shared this same passion.

Since the beginning of @boysandgirlswithplants I have always dedicated 100% of my time to this beautiful community that I have created, and I believe that the fruit of who we are today is due to that. During this time of pandemic, the page had a great growth, I think that people, due to free time, looked for something to entertain themselves and found in the plants a great ally.

Any plant or type of plant that you recommend?

The first thing we should know is that all plants have a different adaptation and growth process, and this depends a lot on the place and climate where you live, but a plant that I consider adapts very well to any climate is the poto or also known as pothos, potus. Its scientific name is Epipremnum Aureum. It is an ideal plant since its care requirements are not many. It has very peculiar characteristics, it is very resistant, tolerates places in shade or semi-shade, grows quickly and its way of reproduction is very simple.

What is the most rewarding thing about having plants?

Plants transmit tranquility to me, they make me feel in direct contact with nature. Having to take care of them, water them, prune them and watch them grow, without a doubt generates great joy and satisfaction in me; through them, I have found the simplicity and beauty of things, and a refuge to be at peace with myself.

How has your life changed since you have plants?

Having plants has contributed to making me feel better emotionally, when I am around them my mood changes completely, they are like a kind of therapy, I feel more relaxed, and my stress is reduced. In the process of taking care of them many times, I disconnect and the problems of everyday life go to the background, which I like because it relieves any type of tension that I may be carrying.

Any tips or resources, website or app that you would recommend to someone who is starting out?

Surrounding yourself with plants will undoubtedly be a very positive thing in your life, so if you still don’t have a little plant at home, I invite you to start taking care of one that you like the most! And you will see that during this process you will feel captivated by her.
